Aesop are a brand renown for their thoughtful and considered site specific architecture. Each store is meticulously developed, with close attention to materiality, context, scale and the customer experience navigating the store. This gives a special place to display the products beyond mere visual merchandising. The resulting store in Cambridge is an oasis of calm within a beautiful English city.
Furniture Contracts worked with the in-house store development team to deliver this beautiful interior providing a complete fit-out package and building services. Completed in 2022.

One of a number of food and wellness stores for the market leading organic retailer Planet Organic. Following earlier work in Queens Park on a new concept store in conjunction with Design Consultants and Project Manager Design Time we were asked to get involved with a store project in Broadway Market bringing all the key features of the new concept.
Integral to the project was the installation of goods lift and new staircase which necessitated structural reinforcement of the basement slab, which we undertook in conjunction with building engineers LSY Consultants, as part of the contract works.
Complete fit-out of the retail store involved a food-to-go outlet, departments for organic vegetables and grocery, as well as extensive health and bodycare product ranges for which the brand has become very well known.
This project saw another L’Occitane boutique created from just a shell. This time we had the constraints of working within what was then Europe’s biggest construction site, situated above one of England’s busiest train stations. As a result, there were strict procedures set by the main developer and the health and safety executive that had to be adhered to due to its close proximity to the public and Network Rail.
Working within these restraints, we planned and executed this project within a five-week programme on site. Logistical challenges included the fact that every delivery to site had to be booked in and itemised five days prior to arriving on site, leaving no room for error during the short programme length.
Once the unit was handed over from the centre’s developer, we carried out a full internal fit-out including walls, floors, ceilings and a new M&E system. The shop front was composed of bespoke hardwood frames into which fire-rated glass was fitted for an impressive exterior.
The Paris-based retailer of timeless and classic children’s clothes approached us to create its first store in the UK in Notting Hill. We set out on this project to deliver an outlet that truly reflected the brand’s luxurious collections.
We created a new structural opening in the timber floor to take a bespoke solid-oak staircase. A full electrical re-wire was completed and new air conditioning system installed.
Mouldings were added to the new walls in keeping with the desired traditional look and this was complemented by the new hardwood flooring, finished in the company’s signature colour.
Starting with an empty space and working closely with our client and their project management team, we created a highly individual feel to this space.
With the requirement that the shop front reflects the traditional charm of the resort, we still managed to add a burst of colour to this boutique shop.
The bespoke window units and consultation sink were manufactured in our workshops to the client’s exact specification.
OISOI serves high-quality artisan Asian food and is described by diners as exciting, warm and welcoming. We commenced the refurbishment of the two-level restaurant with this in mind, to ensure that the end product was exactly as required.
On the first floor, we installed a new marble-clad bar complemented with natural stone tiles to help give the back bar more of a presence. We clad the evening dining area in natural oak panelling, which we carried through to the toilets. Downstairs in the informal eatery, we placed a patisserie counter and bespoke floral planters manufactured in our workshops.
